Pyrethrum is a natural insecticide derived from the dried flowers of certain species of chrysanthemums, particularly Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium. It has been used for centuries to control a wide range of insect pests. To obtain pyrethrum, the flower heads of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium are harvested when they are in full bloom. The flowers are dried and crushed to extract the natural insecticidal compounds known as pyrethrins. it is now the most widely used herbal insecticide for the control of public health pests by mixing with either diesel oil or kerosene as a space spray.
Pyrethrum is effective against a broad spectrum of insects, including mosquitoes, flies, moths, beetles, ants, fleas, ticks, and many others. It targets the nervous system of insects, leading to paralysis and death.
Pyrethrum is generally considered safe for mammals, including humans, as it has low toxicity. However, it can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions in some individuals, especially if applied in high concentrations.
Pyrethrum breaks down rapidly in sunlight and air, making it biodegradable and less likely to persist in the environment. It has a lower environmental impact compared to many synthetic insecticides.
Pyrethrum Extract 2% m/m is now the most widely used herbal insecticide for the control of public health pests by mixing with either diesel oil or kerosene as a space spray. It is the only natural insecticide used for fogging in India and abroad with broad-spectrum activity against variety of household insects such as mosquitoes, flies, cockroach and bed bugs etc.
For Fogging : Pyrethrum Extract 2% should be diluted with kerosene or diesel in the ratio 1:15 and applied as Thermal fog or Ultra fog-low volume aerosol spray.
For Agriculture or Domestic Use : it can be directly sprayed by mixing it with water in appropriate Dose.
Dosage :- 20 – 30 ml in 15 litre water
